The cooperation between the producer/singer/multi-instrumentalist Stoessl and the author/concept artist Brunner began in 1999, and, intensified over the years, ultimately led to the embodiment of themuch anticipated joint project, OPIEN. In beautifully brutal form, it brings the enigmatic work of both artists together, coalescing music, words, images, and many other forbidden sensory delights. Accordingly, it's musical influences are widely diversified and nurtured by the last quarter century of increasingly innovative music history. From the ashes of the great post-industrial age, OPIEN is reminiscent of the early 80's tide that brought in Killing Joke, intermixed with the clean, meat cleaver precision of The Deftones, and other emotive exponents such as Trent Reznor and Iamx's Chris Corner. |
